Description
The Iowa changes dramatically at this point. Its largest tributary, the Cedar River, adds its flow near the put-in at River Forks Access. Both the river and the floodplain spread out here. Shortly after leaving the boat ramp, you'll go under the Highway 92 bridge. About a mile after the Highway 92 bridge, you will pass Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area on your right, the first of about 7,100 acres of public land along the Iowa in Louisa County.
Beginning at river mile 22, you’ll travel through several wildlife areas on both sides of the river.
Take out at the Highway 61 Access which is on your right imediately after going under the Highway 61 bridge. There are no amenities at this landing but the city of Wapello is just a few miles down Highway 61.
The next access is at Schwob Landing in Wapello, another 3.8 miles.
